A new blog for a new start .

Hey,
I’m going to start a new blog which will be written in English.
And for this first post, I’m going to be very very original because I’m going to introduce myself .

So, my name is Julien, I have 19 years old and I live at Lille, France. I have a French blog but I don’t think I’m going to continue to update it. In fact, I create this new blog for a several reasons:
- at first because I’m really bad in English and I really want to learn this language;
- I want to be able to understand perfectly the 2+2 forum, the others blogs in English... ( Because the French poker forums isn’t also active that 2+2 and the bloggers community is small);
- I want to meet and to discuss with others regulars of SSNL.

Here are the main reasons of why I want to start a English poker blog.

My past in poker is very chaotic, I really discovered poker in February 2008 in my boarding school and I began to play online in play money and after few weeks, I discovered the freeroll tourneys and I began to grind it on FullTiltPoker. For my first cash, I finished 9/2700 players for $3 ( lol) and the next day, I played this $3 in NL10 (lolol) and I remember when I was « all in » with KK on a T hi flop with 2 diamonds and villain show 2 diamonds, I shouted « NOT A DIAMONDS NOOOOT A DIIIAAAMOOONDS » ( in French obv. ^^). And after this double up, I play a little in cash game and a little in SNG $1 and up my BR until $27 but I was scared every time I played, because I didn’t want to lose this money hard won: I was blocked.
For to change, one of my friend gave me $5 on pokerstars and I played in deuce to seven until $20 and I exchanged my $27 FTP for $27 PS (thank « lipo all in » yet) and I started to play PLO2 until $90. And I continued to play freeroll, I discovered Winamax (Ongame) and for my second freeroll I won against more 2200 other donks for $20 and I started SNG $1 and $2 until $80 and I realized some result in Omaha8 and hold’em tourneys. Then, I returned on FTP with $50 of pokerstrategy and I played in CG but I was breakeven (with the Rackback :s), so I played SNG until the $10 (~$400 BR) and after one bad week in SNG $10 (-$100) I tried again the cash game but again I was breakeven with RB.
But I’m not going to detail everything because that would be too long.
So for to go faster:
- After my -$100 week I returned on PS for play SNG $3 45players
- I played after the $3, the DoN $5 and $10 and up my BR a more $1k.
- The poker annoys me and I want stop. And one Monday, I decided cash out all my money except my winnings of the day. I played in NL50 HU and have win few buy in, and I started a tourney PLO … and obv. I won it (lol ).
-So, I cash out $1100 and I just kept $350 on my poker account
- I continued to play in NL50 until I began to lose a lot (obv. -> lol BR management and I didn’t have the skill ).
-With my 150 last $$$ I began to play cash game on PS in NL2 FR( 24 tabling) -> NL5 FR (24 tabling) -> NL10 SH ( 12/16 tabling) -> NL25 (8tabling) -> NL50 ( October) (8 tabling)
-I played also few tourneys low buy in and I won a badugi, 8 games and two top 4 in HORSE.
- Now, I am in NL100, I play 4 tables because I really want to become a good player and to improve my game. So with 4 tables I can think on every spot, I can know my opponents … I can play my A Game.

It’s a little chaotic, in more, I almost have not played in September and November, and just a little in October. In reality, I began again to play since the 27 November but I’m now ok for grind every time and to improve my game.

For finish, I know that my English is very bad, but I hope that it will be better in one or two months.
And if you see extracts where there is big faults, do not hesitate to correct me.

easyyyy

  5. Gee, I kind of liked your French blog. Mind you: I don't read French, and only skimmed your last entry, but you used the phrase "Donc voila" and, although I'm not sure what it means exactly, I think I will borrow it next time a really bad player draws out on me. Donc voila! I have started a few memes in my time* so perhaps it could become to poker bad beats what abracadabra is to the magic hat!

    Your English is very understandable (I hope that doesn't sound like a left-handed compliment, LOL). Getting the prepositions correct is the hardest thing for non-natives, and as are many teachers in my family -- my aunt even taught French! -- I have a genetic urge to break out a red pen and draw on my monitor up there! But the best way to get the correct sense of English prepositions is to read not only blogs, which can be quite pedestrian, but something up to the level of eloquence which you possess in your native language. Your French strikes me as sophisticated, but then again: how would I know? If you ever feel you need feedback via copy-editing, just let me know; I have a bachelor's in English and should try to give something back once in a while, n'est-ce pas?

    Oh, and thanks for putting me on your blog-roll!

    *For example, the brief trend of saying to people with dog avatars that they have a cute baby, and to people with baby avatars that they have an ugly dog? That was me, a long time ago now.

  6. Oops, that should have been "as there are many" -- look at me: setting a bad example! Still I warned you about blog grammar....

    I'm kind of a nit, huh?

    I'm going to learn english with the michel thomas CD's and a book. But for the moment, I have not really the time.

    PS: I did not understand your "*for example" lol ^^

  8. Ah, you see: in the micro-SnGs a long long time ago on Stars, before NetTeller went away, many recreational players had either an icon of their dog or their baby. So, when you reverse the compliment/insult from dog to baby and vice versa, hilarity ensues! Oh well, most of those players have long since gone busto -- but such icons were a sure sign of a donkey. I know the gag spread to BBV on 2+2 quite independent of me, but I started it. But, oh well, maybe you had to have been there. Ah, the good old days....
